The strain originated on a farm in Colorado, USA

The origins of Charlotte’s Web can be traced back to a farm in Colorado, USA, where this renowned strain first emerged.

The story goes that Stanley and Sue Dexter, the owners of a family-run farm, crossed two different strains, Colombian Gold and Mexican Brick, to create a new and unique phenotype.

The resulting plant was remarkable for its high resin production, robust growth, and exceptional resistance to diseases and pests.

Charlotte’s Web quickly gained popularity among local growers and breeders due to its impressive yield and potency.

The strain’s name is said to be a tribute to the Dexters’ daughter, Charlotte Figi, who suffers from Dravet syndrome and has benefited significantly from CBD oil derived from this very same plant.

The origins of Charlotte’s Web can be attributed to a strain of cannabis that has been meticulously cultivated by the Stanley Brothers, two Colorado-based hemp farmers.

In 2009, the brothers began experimenting with different hemp strains, seeking to create a variety that would have medicinal properties without causing psychoactive effects.

After months of trial and error, they developed a strain that they named Charlotte’s Web, in honor of Charlotte Figi, a young girl suffering from Dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that had resisted all treatments.

Charlotte’s family turned to the Stanley Brothers’ hemp oil, which contained high levels of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis, as a last resort to alleviate her seizures.

The results were astounding, with Charlotte experiencing a significant reduction in seizure frequency and intensity, leading to her becoming an advocate for medical cannabis use.

The Stanley Brothers’ discovery sparked a global interest in Charlotte’s Web, which has since been cultivated by numerous breeders and farmers worldwide, resulting in a wide range of strains and products bearing the name.

Today, Charlotte’s Web is recognized as one of the most effective CBD-rich strains for treating various medical conditions, including epilepsy, anxiety, and chronic pain, thanks to its high CBD content and negligible levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

The founder of the strain was Stan Marshall who also founded Medical Marijuana Inc.

The origins of Charlotte’s Web, a popular cannabis strain, date back to 2011 when it was first cultivated by the Stanley Brothers in Colorado.

However, what is less well-known is that the founder of the strain, Stan Marshall, also founded Medical Marijuana Inc., a company that plays a significant role in the medical cannabis industry.

The Story Behind Charlotte’s Web

  • In 2011, the Stanley Brothers developed the Charlotte’s Web strain, which was specifically bred to have high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), making it a suitable option for medical use.

The strain was named after Charlotte Figi, a young girl who suffered from a severe form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome. At the time, she was experiencing up to 300 seizures per week and was not responding well to traditional treatments.

Charlotte’s family turned to cannabis as a last resort, and they began administering a CBD-rich oil to their daughter in 201 The results were remarkable – Charlotte’s seizures decreased significantly, and she was eventually able to live seizure-free for long periods of time.

The success of the strain led to its rapid popularity among medical patients, and it quickly became one of the most sought-after strains in the medical cannabis industry.

Stan Marshall’s Role

  • As mentioned earlier, Stan Marshall was a key figure behind Charlotte’s Web, working closely with the Stanley Brothers to develop the strain.
  • In addition to his work on Charlotte’s Web, Marshall also co-founded Medical Marijuana Inc., one of the pioneering companies in the medical cannabis industry.

Under Marshall’s leadership, Medical Marijuana Inc. has become a leading player in the development and marketing of CBD-based products for medical use.

The Impact of Charlotte’s Web

  • Today, Charlotte’s Web is one of the most recognized and respected strains in the cannabis industry.
  • Its high CBD content and low THC levels have made it a go-to option for patients who require relief from pain, inflammation, and seizures without the psychoactive effects associated with THC.

The success of Charlotte’s Web has also led to increased awareness and acceptance of medical cannabis among healthcare professionals and patients alike.

The origins of Charlotte’s Web, a popular cannabis strain, can be traced back to 1938 when Stuart Littlewhite published a children’s book called Charlotte’s Web.

The novel was inspired by White’s own childhood experiences on his family’s farm in North Carolina.

The story revolves around the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte, which is symbolic of the cannabis plant with its web-like structure.

In 2013, a Colorado-based cannabis company called Stanley Brothers developed a strain inspired by the book’s themes of friendship, loyalty, and helping others.

The Stanley Brothers created this marijuana strain to honor Charlotte Figi, a young girl who suffered from severe epilepsy.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the primary cannabinoid found in Charlotte’s Web, with a low THC content that makes it an excellent option for patients requiring therapeutic relief without psychoactive effects.

The strain has since become one of the most popular and well-known strains globally due to its potential benefits for medical marijuana users seeking pain relief, inflammation reduction, or seizure control.

Cannabis enthusiasts appreciate Charlotte’s Web for its unique flavor profile, described as earthy, woody, and herbal with subtle hints of spice and fruit.

With a THC content of approximately 0.55% to 1%, this strain is generally considered low-potency but offers remarkable medical benefits without inducing the ‘high’ often associated with cannabis use.
